2010 Class Dates Now Scheduled!
This is an all day, intensive seminar on starting and tending a summer vegetable garden. Participants sow and take home two full flats of summer vegetables (a $52 value). Topics covered: bed preparation, fertilizing, amending, proper sow and transplant dates for specific crops, discussion of over 20 different warm-weather veggies to grow, warmth, light, and climate needs, companion planting, pest and disease control, on-line preferred discount vendors of gardening supplies and seeds.
Farmer Cynthia Sandberg takes you out into her garden and shows you how. See the pests in person, the composting techniques, bed preparation - hands on and up close.
This workshop is a great basis for either someone new to gardening, or someone who just wants to ramp up their yield and over-all garden vitality.

What class participants have said:
"I just wanted to Thank you for a great class on Sunday. I am studying and working on becoming a garden designer/fine gardener and have been inspired my friend Sally to try growing veggies. I feel like I learned some very valuable techniques and information to get started at your class. I can't wait to take another class at your wonderful Farm/Garden. You inspired me to start up my compost pile again. Everything from the chickens, to the beautiful plants and edibles were so interesting and beautiful, I actually felt a little sad to leave." Will there be any more gardening classes offered this year? I can't believe I missed all of the ones available! It sounds exactly like what I need.

Marilyn: Yes, we are now officially closed for the 2009 spring tomato plant sale. We will open our farm stand with sales of fresh tomatoes sometime in late July or early August. It varies, according to the weather each year. I recommend you get on my email newsletter list, so that you can get an announcement of when the stand opens. There is a method to sign up on the right hand column here, under "Stay in Touch."

I just wanted to send a quick note of thanks. Your class was great. I feel like I came away with useful, relevant information that I can put to use in my yard. My seeds are covered and I eagerly await the first sprout.
Your farm is beautiful. The work that you put into your crops is very apparent. I'm guessing you go to bed very tired every night.
Jennifer and I decided to really have an experience, so we had made reservations for Manresa after the class. We gussied ourselves up in the back of my van and went into the restaurant to have an amazing meal. I've never done anything like that before - it was a very special treat. We even had an opportunity to meet David Kinch. What a nice guy! He asked us about our gardens.
We both garden at home, but also maintain vegetable and native gardens at our local elementary school. The chef mentioned his interest in native edibles. Interestingly, right under the blurb about your tomato sales in Sunset, there was info. about Arlie Middlebrook of Middlebrook Gardens. She is featuring native edibles for spring at her nursery right now. It is highly likely that you are already aware of this, but I thought I would send it on anyway.
I look forward to visiting again soon. Thanks!
