Join us for an aromatic hands-on journey as you learn to make your own personal products and gifts using aromatherapy essential oils and basic natural elements. Why buy commercial products with long lists of difficult to pronounce ingredients, when you can make your own at home so simply -- for yourself, or to give away to friends and family for holidays and special occasions. These product-making skills will serve you for life!
We’ll be firmly enmeshed in the summer season, so we’ll start by making a refreshing hot weather spritz, followed by aromatic and fun products for the bath, including bath salts and fizzers. We’ll also make a hand and body mousse, plus a body butter, which may be altered for a variety of applications such as salves, ointments, lip balm, cuticle treatment, even vapor rub. And to celebrate nature’s gifts from the earth (if lavender is still blooming and fresh at the time), we’ll use basket-weaving techniques to make fresh lavender wands -- delightfully beautiful and fragrant natural sachets which have been shared and enjoyed for centuries -- or a substitute product of Dezi's choice.
We’ll be making batches of products together, so you’ll get to take home more than just one of each product. Please bring a box or bag for take home.
This introductory workshop, taught by an internationally certified aromatherapist, is designed to teach you all you need to know to get started with aromatherapy.
Rosemary “Dezi” DeSiervi received her international certification in aromatherapy from Dr. Kurt Schnaubelt of the Pacific Institute of Aromatherapy in June of 2001, and also studied at the Shirley Price Institute in the U.K. She continues to study with Dr. Kurt, attending his international conferences on aromatherapy where research papers are presented from leading industry professionals. She recently began developing her own aromatherapy products and markets them online at www.myhealingarden.com. Dezi is a holistic health educator and practitioner and has been teaching a semester-length aromatherapy course at West Valley College in Saratoga, CA, since 2003.
