You can do a lot in a backyard space, be it specialty gardening for a world-class chef, like our culinary gardener Cynthia Sandberg does, or supplementing your family's budget by selling the honey from your own hives. There are dozens of ways to get back to basics and earn greenbacks while doing so.
As a student, you'll hear a whole slew of ways to earn a living from a small (or big) homestead, rules and regulations, start-up costs, record-keeping, invaluable marketing tips, and how to connect with those folks and businesses interested in buying what you grow, raise or create. We will discuss these categories of potential home businesses: gardening, preserving, livestock, teaching and crafting.
