We ordered 200 baby chicks for our very popular chicken-keeping class this last weekend. Every person brought home 4 baby chicks along with a brooder kit full of everything they needed to keep their babies safe, happy and healthy. Since we cap our registration for that class at 25, that means that we have approximately 100 baby chicks left in our classroom! Woe is us.
These little ones have grown quite a bit since they arrived, and are happily jumping around the brooder box all day and night.
I hope to get some baby chicks next spring, here in Michigan. We are raising ducks now. We have five baby ducks and one from last year. The eggs are great, too. Have you ever raised any ducks?

No Donna, we did have some chicks for sale: Araucana, Buff Cochins, Blue Andalusian, and Welsummer. Those were extra chicks from our Chicken-Keeping class (another class coming up on September 18). But those have all gone to good homes, and we'll be getting in another shipment for the Sept. class.

A neighbor up here in Boulder Creek raises chicks for the eggs and they are incredibly delicious ova ... she feeds them with scraps from the vegetable department of New Leaf, where she works. We're just sorry that her new batch of chicks won't be laying until next Spring! Does the farm sell eggs, by any chance?
