In our Fruit Tree class, you will learn how to select and care for most common fruit trees. Learn when and how to prune, fertilize, irrigate and harvest. Why not have something fruiting and ripe year round? Which varieties of which type of fruit are best for our Bay Area climate? Do Blenheim apricots live up to the hype? What's a better persimmon - Fuyu or Hachiya? Can you prune in the summer, or will that hurt the tree? We will be focusing on apples, peaches, pears, cherries, plums, pomegranates, persimmons, nectarines, apricots, figs, avocado, and citrus.
Fruit trees are a joy in every yard and garden. Chances are that you have a perfect spot for one. Make an investment in your yard, your health, and your happiness by planting one this year! Or simply learn how to care for an existing orchard.
This class is taught by farmer Cynthia Sandberg co-founder of the World Tomato Society, and is held at Love Apple Farms' spring plant sale, located at 5311 Scotts Valley Dr., Scotts Valley, CA. Read speaker and class reviews for Cynthia Sandberg here.
