This class is designed for the beginner preserving student interested in pickling. We will cover all of the basics from fairly simple tricks and techniques to the more intimidating and involved preserving processes.
Among the subjects we will cover in class are:
- Food safety (your number one priority)
- Causes of food spoilage and how to avoid them
- The right ingredients for pickling
- Tools of the trade
- Water bath canning pickling method
- Simple, fresh refrigerator pickles
- Japanese-style pickles
Students will create and take home various jars of pickles.
This is a hands-on workshop limited to six students only. Cynthia Sandberg will teach this class at Love Apple Farms, located at 2317 Vine Hill Road, Santa Cruz, CA
